Dr. Remya Varadarajan has extensive research and academic career, with over a decade of experience at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr. Remya continues to make significant strides in interdisciplinary research, integrating biochemistry, sustainable nanotechnology, environmental pollution & aquatic toxicology to address key scientific challenges. She was awarded with UGC-Research Fellowship for Meritorious Students during her Ph.D. tenure in Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT), Kerala in 2010. She further pursued post-doctoral research at the Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai, with a Department of Biotechnology (DBT)-fellowship. She has received two copyrights for her work on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles and their biomedical applications. Dr Remya joined St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) in 2021. Dr. Remya’s project students were awarded with Best Paper Award at the ‘Recent research in applied Sciences-2023’ held in Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. She has published several papers in international and national journals and authored two book chapters. Dr. Varadarajan's research has gained significant recognition, with 265 citations and an overall H-index of 7 in Google Scholar. Dr. Remya has been awarded a Minor Research Project grant (2025-2027) from MJES to conduct research on the Toxicological Impact of Citrate-Coated Silver Nanoparticles in a Fish Models. This study aims to assess the potential toxicity and biological effects of these nanoparticles on aquatic organisms, contributing to a deeper understanding of nanoparticle-induced environmental risks. Dr. Varadarajan is a recognized research guide under St. Aloysius Deemed to be University. Dr. Varadarajan is a member of various academic and research bodies, including the Society of Marine Biologists, CUSAT.
