Dr  Manohar Vincent Serrao, Ph.D., currently serves as the Head of the Department of Economics at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru. His academic and research interests span Financial Inclusion, Public Economics, Consumer Behavior, Rural Development, Economic Policy, and Higher Education Governance. He has been an integral part of the institution’s growth, having served as a Member of the Executive Council at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) and as Principal of St Aloysius Evening College, Mangaluru.

Dr Serrao earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Manipal University, focusing on the ‘Impact of Financial Inclusion Policy on the Socio-Economic Status of Rural and Urban Households’. He pursued his M.Phil. from Madurai Kamaraj University, specializing in Consumer Behavior in the Two-Wheeler Industry in Mangalore. His research work has been recognized through UGC-funded projects, including a Minor Research Project on the Impact of Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana on Household Economic Status in Dakshina Kannada District.

An active scholar, Dr Serrao has published extensively in national and international journals. His research contributions have been acknowledged through conference presentations and  he has also been a resource person in workshops on  higher education quality enhancement.

Beyond academics, Dr Serrao has played a pivotal role in institutional governance and policy-making, contributing as a Member of the Academic Council and Syndicate of Mangalore University. He has been actively involved in Jesuit Higher Education initiatives, participating in national and international seminars on academic excellence and leadership.
