I am a sociologist and Assistant Professor at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru. I hold an Integrated Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Hyderabad and a PhD in Sociology from South Asian University, New Delhi, a university established by the member states of SAARC. I have qualified both the UGC-NET and GATE, securing an All India Rank of 18 in GATE.

My doctoral research examined changes in the political economy of labour and development associated with inter-state migration into Kerala. My research interests include migration and labour, sociology of development, urban and rural transformations, and qualitative research methods. My work draws particularly on ethnographic approaches to understand how broader economic and political processes shape everyday lives, work and social relations.

My teaching interests include sociological theory, sociology of India, research methodology, environment and society, and contemporary social issues. I am particularly interested in making sociological concepts accessible to students by connecting theoretical perspectives with everyday social realities.

I am also interested in interdisciplinary research that brings together sociology, labour studies and development studies to understand changing forms of work, mobility, inequality and social change in contemporary India and South Asia.
