About

Dr Chandramathi Ramaswamy is a Social Work educator, researcher, applied theatre practitioner, and a seasoned facilitator. She has Co-Founded - Agamagizh, a social enterprise that uses Arts for Well-being and Social Impact. Her work lies at the intersection of mental health, youth development, community practice, and arts-based social interventions. Supported by the UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), her doctoral research focused on positive mental health, mental health literacy, arts in health and psychosocial well-being. Her other research areas include gender, disability, and participatory approaches to social change.

Her scholarship bridges social science research through quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches. She has published in Scopus- and Web of Science-indexed journals and contributed to interdisciplinary research on mental health equity, inclusive education, and adolescent wellbeing.

Over the past decade, she has facilitated more than 45 workshops and training programmes across educational, community, and professional settings, reaching over 5,300 children, young people, educators, and healthcare workers. Through Agamagizh and collaborative initiatives with corporate and CSR partners, including TATA Group-supported programmes, she has designed and implemented psychosocial and well-being interventions across multiple Indian states.

As a theatre practitioner with over 11 years of experience, she has performed on more than 130 stages, including appearances at national and international theatre festivals, and uses Applied Theatre and Theatre-in-Education (TiE) methodologies to promote learning, wellbeing, inclusion, and social change. Her work is driven by a commitment to connecting research, teaching, and practice to advance inclusive and socially responsive approaches to development and wellbeing.
