SOE Faculty Visit Manipal–GOK Bioincubator at MAHE, Manipal
On December 10, 2025, faculty members from the School of Engineering (SOE) visited the Manipal–GOK Bioincubator at MAHE, Manipal, under the leadership of Dr S. Ruban, Dean – SOE.
The faculty team had an insightful interaction with Dr Manesh Thomas, Chief Executive Officer, Manipal–GOK Bioincubator, who provided a comprehensive overview of the incubation lifecycle, spanning pre-incubation support, structured incubation, and the graduation of startups into independent ventures. He highlighted how incubators play a pivotal role in nurturing early-stage ideas, transforming them into viable products and scalable enterprises.
Dr Thomas also elaborated on the conducive innovation ecosystem created by the Bioincubator, which includes mentorship from domain experts, access to advanced infrastructure, and strategic connections with venture capitalists and funding agencies. He emphasized the importance of support mechanisms for intellectual property rights (IPR), regulatory compliance, and market readiness, enabling startups to navigate legal and procedural frameworks effectively.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the state-of-the-art incubation spaces and advanced instrumentation facilities, offering faculty members firsthand exposure to the infrastructure and resources available to support research translation and startup development at the Manipal–GOK Bioincubator.
