The Department of Computer Application, School of IT, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), organized a guest talk on "Cyber Security Awareness Program for Rural India" on 9th August 2025 at Joseph Willy Hall, Maffei Block. The session was conducted by Mr. Vian Dsouza, Full Stack Developer, and convened by Ms. A Vanaja.
The objective of the session was to raise awareness about cyber security challenges faced in rural areas and to equip participants with practical measures to ensure safe digital practices. Mr. Vian Dsouza highlighted the importance of safeguarding personal information, recognizing cyber threats, and adopting secure online behaviours. He also discussed recent trends in cyber-crimes and preventive strategies.
A total of 80 students actively participated in the program, engaging in interactive discussions and clarifying doubts related to online safety. The event emphasized the role of technology literacy in protecting rural communities from cyber vulnerabilities.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment, followed by a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to Mr. Vian Dsouza for his insightful presentation. The talk proved to be highly informative and beneficial in promoting cyber safety awareness.
