Career Guidance Program: “Root to Fruit – Nurturing Dreams, Shaping Future” - St Aloysius (Deemed To Be University)

The Department of Biochemistry and Botany under the School of Life Sciences, St Aloysius 
(Deemed to be University), organized an Alumni Interaction on the theme Career Guidance: 
“Root to Fruit – Nurturing Dreams, Shaping Future”. The session was led by Mohammed 
Rifay (B.Sc., MBA, B.Ed., DIS), an alumnus of the department (2005–2008) to inspire and 
guide students in planning their career paths effectively. The programme was conducted on 15th 
July, 2025 at Sanidhya Hall, with the participation of 120 students.  The program commenced 
with Josten Crasta of III B.Sc. BcZ taking up the role of Master of Ceremonies and setting the 
session in motion. This was followed by a warm welcome and introduction of the resource 
person by Devika of III B.Sc. BcZ. A prayer service was then led by Brasni of III B.Sc. BcC, 
Sudha of III B.Sc. BcB, and Ankitha of III B.Sc. MbB, seeking blessings for the fruitful conduct 
of the program and the success of all present. The esteemed speaker for the session welcomed 
with a green gesture of presenting a plant sapling by Ms. Shameena K A, who, along with Dr. 
Sana Sheikh, convened the program. Mohammed Rifay shared his inspiring journey, 
highlighting how he completed his B.Sc., cleared the MAT examination to pursue an MBA, 
and obtained a diploma in Arabic and DIS. Later, he returned from the Gulf to India to complete 
his B.Ed. and currently runs a school in Uttar Pradesh. In his motivational talk, he emphasized 
the importance of developing adaptable skills aligned with one’s dream career. He encouraged 
students to take up internships with reputed companies or universities, explaining how such 
opportunities add practical experience, broaden perspectives, and enhance job prospects in 
today’s competitive world. His address inspired the students to remain focused, explore diverse 
learning avenues, and build networks to nurture their dreams effectively. The session concluded 
with a vote of thanks delivered by Ashtami of III B.Sc. BcZ, expressing gratitude to the speaker, 
convenors, faculty, and students for their active participation and for making the program 
enriching and impactful. Overall, the career guidance program was a meaningful initiative, 
helping students to nurture their aspirations and shape their future with clarity and purpose.
