Teaching and Research
Mr. Vishal Nayak has been associated with the Department of Media Studies at St Aloysius College since 2008. In September 2025, Vishal Nayak submitted his Ph.D. thesis "Political Marketing and Meaning-Making on Social Media: A Study of Indian Parliamentary Elections" to the Dept of JMC at Kuvempu University, Shimoga and is awaiting his Ph.D defense.
At St Aloysius, Vishal Nayak handles corporate communication subjects like marketing communications, digital media marketing, creative strategy etc. along with general subjects like media and cultural studies and political communication. Since 2010, Vishal Nayak has published numerous research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals on corporate communication and political communication.
Industry Experience and Active Collaboration
Vishal Nayak comes with excellent industry experience in designing and implementing various successful marketing and advertising campaigns for global audiences. An accomplished corporate communication professional, his career accomplishments include being featured as one of the 110 international marketers (and the only Indian) whose online marketing campaigns in the industry to be featured in Marketing Sherpa’s Yearly Wisdom Report 2007 and 2012. As a copywriter and marketing communications professional, Mr. Nayak has worked for reputed multi-nationals, software firms, market research firms, consumer goods companies, and educational institutions. Even though Vishal Nayak has actively embraced the vocation of teaching and research since 2010, he is still actively involved with the marketing communication industry as he regularly engages in industry projects as a consultant and a resource person for industry professionals.
Other academic and professional activities
Apart from teaching and research, Vishal has also been acting as an English voice-over artist in Mangalore for radio / video advertisements and corporate films with a portfolio of advertisements of over 50 companies, including national banks, car manufacturers, and Ministry of GOI related videos. He is also a podcast host of his own show on Spotify and is the executive producer of the student-produced podcast 'Media Studies EduPod' both available on Spotify.
