Dr. Vaishali Rai M is an accomplished microbiologist and educator with over 13 years of teaching, research experience and academic leadership. She holds a Ph.D. from Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University and specializes in antimicrobial and anticancer research, microbial diversity, bacterial pigments and their applications, biodegradation and phytochemical studies. Dr. Rai qualified the KSET for lectureship conducted by the University of Mysore in 2014, adding to her academic credentials.
As the Head of the Microbiology Department and Chair of the NAAC Cell, she plays a key role in fostering academic excellence, institutional accreditation, and research-driven learning. She is a recognized research guide and has mentored numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students in microbiological research.
Her contributions include 12+ research papers, four book chapters, and a patent. Her research contributions have been supported by funded projects, including a VGST grant for pigment-producing bacteria studies.
She has been honored as the "Staff of the Month" at St Aloysius. She frequently serves as a resource person, speaker, and judge at prestigious academic events. A life member of the Mycological Society of India, she actively contributes to academia through BOE/BOS memberships across institutions.
Committed to fostering scientific inquiry, Dr. Rai continues to drive research, innovation and quality education in microbiology.
