WORK EXPERIENCE
Dr. Roshan Monteiro has 17 years of experience in teaching, research, training, and practice in Social Work education. His expertise spans adolescent health, counseling, mental health, life skills education, sustainable development practices, environmental protection, and migration.
He is a recognized PhD guide and completed his Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangalore (2008). He earned his PhD in Social Work from Tumkur University, Karnataka (2019) and holds an MS in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Manasa Education Foundation for Mental Health, Shivamogga (2007). Additionally, he has a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations (PGDPM&IR) from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mangalore (2009). He has undergone specialized training in Psychiatric Social Work and Counseling at Dr. A.V. Baliga Hospital, Udupi.
He has completed a UGC Minor Research Project on mental health and a research project on present cultural trends and practices among the Koraga community, sponsored by UGC-STRIDE. Additionally, he conducted research on the socio-economic conditions of migrants in coastal Karnataka, funded by the College Research Unit. His research contributions include presenting at national and international conferences and published articles in UGC, Scopus and other reputed journals.
Currently, he serves as the Nodal Officer for the Anti-Ragging and Drug Abuse Awareness Cell. He is also executive editor DEEKSHA Annual Peer Reviwed Journal of Social Work. He is also a recognized trainer for students, youth, parents, and teachers in counseling skills and life skills education. His primary areas of interest include counseling, addiction management, adolescent health, life skills training, education, and research.
