Tiatr is a type of musical theatre that is popular in the state of Goa. The word tiatr comes from the Portuguese word for theatre, teatro. Tiatr is alive in the presence of Konkanni speakers in Mumbai, Middle East, and UK. The plays are primarily incorporated with music, dance and singing. The performers of tiar are called tiatrists.
To mark the milestone in Mangalore St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University) and St. Joseph the worker church Vamanjoor in association owith RO International took a step to introduce tiatr culture on 25th January 2025. Goyancho Saib tiatr especially designed on the life, Works and Miracles of St Francis Xavier. During the exposition of SFX body in Goa, this tiatr is designed by Director / Tiatrist Micheal Jude Gracias, President of Kala Niketan Majorda. And, this Tiatr got very huge response from Goans. To remark his silver Jubilee show, the Philanthropist Mr. James Mendonca, an NRI came forward to have the show in Vamanjoor church ground with the whopping 3000 crowd.
St. Aloysius (Deemed to be) University Visionaries Rev.Fr.Melwin Pinto SJ, Rector of the Institutions, Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, the Vice Chancellor of (Deemed to be University) took steps to create awareness and spirituality among Youths in the campus through Goan tiatr culture. Along with the University students, Mangalore city people too witnessed the tiatr Goyancho Saib at 1pm and theatre lovers from outskirts of Mangalore at 7pm. Both the places the tiatr was well appreciated by the audience.
30 tiatrist from goa and 7 theatre artist from St. Aloysius (Deemed to be) University performed on the stage. They too got the innovative experience along with tiatrists. Music, Fokanna (Jokes), songs and acting are the main components of Tiatr.
Mr.Micheal Gracias was honoured for his research work on SFX and for tiatr by Dr. Denis Fernandes Professor of History and Director of Aruppe Block of St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University. Mrs. Flora Castelino HOD of Konkanni Dept St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University the organizer of the Tiatr compeered the programme.

During the stage programme, goyancho saib, konkanni kannada script book was released.This book is translated into Malayalam, Marati, English, Hindi, Romi Konkanni.
Special silver Jubilee Emblem was released on Goyancho Saib on this occasion.
Mrs Flora Castelino, HOD of Konkanni from St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University was felicitated for the dedicated work rendered for Konkanni language and culture, Mr.James Mendonca and Mr.Rohan Periera conveners too were felicitated by Mr Micheal Gracias for their huge support to Goans and their dedicated work.
Audience were spell bound watching the three-hour long tiatr performance. Goan Food stalls were a special attraction for Mangaloreans. Mangaloreans are goan food lovers. They preferred chorisa, bibinca, dodol, doce, Bolinas, perad, ghonde and variety of masalas.
Rev.Fr. Ivan APP welcomed the gathering. Mr. James Mendonca shared his joy and thanked the huge crowd. Mr.Rohan Pereira rendered the vote of thanks to the stage programme. Mrs.Melveera Dsouza compered the stage programme.
