St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University) organized a one-day national-level fest for pre-university students, which was inaugurated on Saturday, August 31, at the LCRI Hall, St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru.
Ms. Manvitha Kamath, an alumna of the university and a Sandalwood actress, was the chief guest of the programme. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “We learn new things at every stage of life. Life gives us opportunities and helps us face challenges. In order to achieve success, we need to put in continuous effort and hard work. This institution continues to give importance to extracurricular along with academics.”
Ms. Seira Felix, the Guest of Honour, had her book titled Cry Heard as a Sound, published by Aloysius Prakashana, released by Ms. Manvitha and Rev. Fr. Melwyn Pinto SJ during the inauguration.
Rev. Fr. Melwyn Pinto SJ, Rector of St. Aloysius Institutions, presided over the program. In his address, he said that students should view competitions as opportunities to learn rather than merely to win trophies. “One should be happy when others win and must keep trying and doing things with passion,” he added.
Kanyana Sadashiv Shetty, an alumnus of the university and an entrepreneur and industrialist, was the Chief Guest at the valedictory program. He stated that achieving any mission or goal is not an easy task and that patience and persistence are key. He encouraged today's students to remain patient and persistent to achieve success in life.
Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, the Vice Chancellor of the University, presided over the valedictory program. He emphasized that enthusiasm for life is essential and that when we act with knowledge, interest, and concentration on any subject, we achieve the best results.
Dr. Alwyin D’Sa and Dr. Ronald Nazareth, Registrars; Dr. Charles Futardo, Dr. Dennis Fernandes, and Dr. Narayan Bhatt, directors of different blocks; as well as staff coordinators, cultural secretary Advika Shetty, and student coordinators were present.
58 pre-university colleges from Karnataka and neighbouring states, with more than 1,200 students, participated in the event.
In the inauguration ceremony, Bhavya Shetty, co- convenor, welcomed the gathering, and Vance, President of the Student Council, gave the vote of thanks. Shaina was the emcee for the programme. During the valedictory ceremony, Dr. Reji John, the convenor welcomed the guests, and Thaufira, Vice President of the Student Council, gave the vote of thanks. Vinay Maikar was the emcee for the valedictory event.
