St Aloysius University holds National Level НАСКАТHON ‘CODESPRINT’ & Aloysian Food Fest
The Inauguration of the 24 Hours National Level HACKATHON CODESPRINT organised by the School of Information Science and Technology, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru was held on 10th January 2025 in L. F. Rasquinha,, L.C.R.I. of the University. As part of the Hackathon, Aloysian Food Fest was also inaugurated.
Rev. Dr Kiran Cotha, Director of AIMIT was the Chief Guest. Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ Vice Chancellor of the University, presided over the programme. Mr Jagadish Bhat, Country Manager, Indian Software Services, IBM and Ms Salomi DSouza, South Indian Actress and Model were the guests of honour. Dr Charles Furtado, Director of Admin Block, Dr Ravindra Swami, Associate Dean of Information Science and Technology and Mr Royal Praveen DSouza, Coordinator of the programme were on the dais.
Rev Dr Kiran Cotha in his address said that human learning is inevitable and we get hundreds of opportunities every day. He spoke about the Red Car theory and urged the participants to unleash their skills into actions with openness. He also briefed about the opportunities they get through Hackathon.
Mr Jagadish Bhat in his speech spoke about skills which are something more than the formal education. The industry is looking for students having various skills such as Data analysis, coding, Al, industry related software and so on. Technology is such an important tool for us to manage the industry, health care sector and many more. Algorithms and coding is required to get the basic knowledge of Artificial Intelligence to do many things in our day to day life.
During the inauguration, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) signed an MoU with IBM. Dr Roshan Fredrick Dsouza, Chair of International Relations, briefed about the oppurtunities of MOU signed with IBM.
Rev Dr Praveen Martis SJ in his presidential remarks said that the academics gives knowledge but skills give opportunities. He requested the participants to take part in this brainstorming event, CODESPRINT with utmost enthusiasm.
Ms Ashly compered the programme. Reema Krishna Jalihal, Assistant professor of BCA proposed the vote of thanks.
52 team are taking part in the hackathon event having a total of 177 participants.
