REPORT:  WORKSHOP ON MATHEMATICS  USING ORIGAMI BY ADELAIDE SALDANHA

On February 9, 2024, at 11:30 am, the Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research in Mathematics hosted an engaging Workshop on Mathematics  using Origami in LCRI 401. Led by Adelaide Saldanha, Associate Professor and Former Head of the Department of Mathematics at St. Agnes College, Mangalore, the session delved into the intersection of mathematics and origami.

46 participants, including students and faculty members, were captivated by Adelaide's passion and precision as she unraveled the intricate relationship between mathematical concepts and the art of paper folding. Her class became a gateway to a world where creativity and equations coexisted harmoniously. The session unfolded like a canvas, with the brushstrokes of mathematical art capturing the students' curiosity from the very beginning. Adelaide's adept guidance seamlessly transitioned into a hands-on experience, where the crafting of three-dimensional figures from simple sheets of paper transformed the abstract beauty of mathematical concepts into tangible creations. This transformative journey left an indelible mark, making the Origami Mathematics Class a fruitful and inspiring endeavor for every participant.

The session left a lasting impact, igniting newfound enthusiasm for the graceful art of paper folding while deepening understanding of its mathematical foundations.
