The impact of emotional intelligence on Leadership

11th January 2022

The guest lecture commenced on the Morning of 10th January 2022, at 10:00 AM  with a short hymn sung by the choir to invoke the blessings of God on the occasion. The dignitaries:  resource person Rev. Icon S Palanna, Staff incharge Dr Florin ShelomithSoans and student coordinator Mr Kian Alvares were then invited to the stage by the MC Ms Angela Pinto.

The Chief guest was then welcomed by the student coordinator, who introduced the resource person for the day and listed his various accolades in the fields of academia. The chief guest was then felicitated with a green welcome by Ms Carrel, staff of the Department of commerce. The speech was then concluded with a call to open minds and hearts on the end of the listeners to truly absorb the core of the lecture.

The MC then handed over the stage to the Rev. Icon S Palanna who began his lecture by introducing everyone to the true concept of leadership. He then went on to speak about the various stages of Leadership a person must level up through in order to reach the pinnacle of being a true leader, one who earns his teammates respect with permission and by touching their hearts. He handled the crowd with great gusto, with avid use of applicable examples that drew from real life and was able to break down abstract concepts so as to make them imbibable in the listeners’ lives.

The lecture on the whole was well received by the 3rd year Bcom students who participated in the short activity used by the resource person to demonstrate how a true leader becomes so only through their willingness to sacrifice all the resources available to them so as to achieve a set goal.

Once the lecture had commenced, the MC then delivered the vote of thanks. The chief guest was then honoured for his valuable words of wisdom by Assistant Professor Dr Florin Soans and thus the lecture on the impact of emotional intelligence on Leadership came to a close.
