Expanding Horizons: A Report on the 4-Day Workshop on Research Methodology

In today's rapidly evolving global landscape, the quest for knowledge and advanced research techniques knows no bounds. Recognizing the need to equip scholars and academicians with cutting-edge tools for scientific research, the Department of Commerce at St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, in collaboration with ISDC and the Institute of Analytics (IoA), organized a comprehensive 4-day workshop on Research Methodology in Commerce and Management using R Studio. The workshop was held from May 17, 2021, to May 20, 2021, running daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The workshop commenced with an inaugural session on May 17. Dr. Manuel Tauro, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, delivered the welcome address, setting the stage for an engaging and informative series of sessions. Dr. Denis Fernandes, Director of Commerce and Management, provided the presidential address, highlighting the importance of advanced research methodologies in the current academic and professional environment. The session was hosted by Ms. Sharol Rodrigues.

The workshop was led by Dr. Vinod Kumar Muthi, the Country Head of the Institute of Analytics. With an engineering degree, an MBA in Finance and Marketing, and a PhD in Finance, Dr. Muthi brings a wealth of experience from both industry and academia. He has conducted numerous Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) on data analytics and R Studio, making him an ideal resource person for this workshop.

Over the course of the four days, Dr. Muthi emphasized a hands-on approach, guiding participants through the practical applications of R Studio in data analysis and interpretation. His sessions were marked by active participant engagement and practical exercises, which not only enhanced the learning experience but also provided valuable insights into the use of R Studio for data-driven research.

The interactive nature of the workshop, coupled with the expertise of Dr. Muthi, made the sessions both informative and engaging. Participants gained a deeper understanding of data analysis techniques and their application in commerce and management research.

The workshop concluded on May 20 with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Pooja, Coordinator of the event. Her acknowledgment of the contributions of all involved encapsulated the successful completion of a workshop that has significantly enriched the participants' knowledge and skills in research methodology.

Through this workshop, the Department of Commerce at St. Aloysius College, in association with ISDC and IoA, has successfully contributed to the advancement of research skills among scholars and academicians, reinforcing the idea that the pursuit of knowledge is a continuous journey without age or boundaries.
