On January 30, 2023, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Government of India, Nagpur, organized a National Level Online Workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) & Patents and Designs Filing.” Held through a hybrid mode at 12:30 p.m., the workshop drew a substantial audience of 470 participants, reflecting widespread interest in intellectual property and patent management.

The workshop was led by Dr. Bharat N Suryawanshi, Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs at RGNIIPM, Nagpur. Dr. Suryawanshi delivered an insightful session on the fundamentals of Intellectual Property Rights, patents, and design processes. He elaborated on how individuals can innovate and protect their creations, emphasizing that creativity and invention are not restricted by formal qualifications. His discussion included practical advice on patent filing and the importance of intellectual property in safeguarding one's innovations.

Coordinated by Dr. Caroleena Janefer and Mr. Akshith Kumar, the workshop successfully provided participants with valuable knowledge on intellectual property management. Dr. Suryawanshi's encouragement for creative pursuits and his clear explanations of patent and design processes left a positive impact on attendees. The event not only educated participants about the intricacies of IPR but also motivated them to explore and protect their inventive ideas.
