REPORT ON ‘JOB PREPARATION TRAINING’ WORKSHOP - APRIL 15th & 18th, 2024

The School of Business and Management, in collaboration with the Placement Cell, organized a two-day workshop on ‘Job Preparation and Training’ for the final year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students on April 15th and 18th, 2024. The workshop featured Ms. Flona Soans, Dean of Training, Placement, and Career Guidance, as the guest speaker. The event was coordinated by Ms. Sahana S and Ms. Sowmya T, with 240 students in attendance.

Ms. Flona emphasized the importance of crafting an effective resume or curriculum vitae (CV) and provided practical guidance on their development. She clarified the differences between a resume and a CV, addressing students’ questions on how to best present their qualifications. The workshop included interactive sessions such as group discussions (GD) and mock interviews, simulating real-world job application scenarios.

Students actively participated in two group discussion rounds, debating topics like mandatory military training for Indian youth and the balance between pursuing perfection and completion. Following the group discussions, Ms. Flona led a debriefing session, where students analyzed the skills demonstrated and identified areas for improvement.

The highlight of the workshop was the mock interview session, where a student volunteer participated in a simulated interview with Ms. Flona, who role-played as a Human Resources Manager. The interview covered various aspects, including skills assessment, salary expectations, and stress management techniques, offering valuable insights into the job interview process.

In the final segment, Ms. Flona dedicated the last 15 minutes to answering student queries, providing further clarity on job application procedures and career development strategies.

Overall, the workshop was a crucial learning experience, equipping students with practical insights into the job application process and preparing them for their future careers.
