Industrial Visit Summary 2023: Coimbatore and Ooty

The Department of BBA at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, organized a three-day industrial visit to Coimbatore and Ooty from March 10-12, 2023, for 3rd-year students. The primary objective of this visit was to provide students with hands-on exposure to real-world industrial environments, enhancing their understanding of both new and existing technologies while bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

During the visit, students explored four significant companies: Deccan Industries, UNIQ Technologies, Yaanee Fashions India Pvt Ltd, and Benchmark Chocolate and Tea Factory. Each visit offered a deep dive into the workings of different industries. At Deccan Industries, students learned about the production of submersible pumps and electric motors. UNIQ Technologies introduced them to the IT sector, highlighting software and web design services. Yaanee Fashions provided insights into the fashion industry, showcasing the manufacturing process of garments for international brands. Finally, Benchmark Chocolate and Tea Factory in Ooty offered a unique perspective on the production of tea and chocolate, from raw materials to finished products.

The visit was coordinated by faculty members Mr. Ayush Kottary, Mr. Manoj Fernandes, and Ms. Sahana S. A total of 52 students participated, gaining valuable insights into industrial practices, the stages of production, and the technologies used. This experience not only enhanced their practical skills but also helped them build connections with potential future employers. The visit was an enriching and memorable experience, leaving students with a deeper understanding of the industries they may one day work in.

Industrial Visit 2024: CAMPCO Factory, Puttur

On April 13, 2024, the Management Association of St. Aloysius College organized an industrial visit to the CAMPCO Factory in Puttur for the BBA students. This visit aimed to provide practical insights into the operations and processes of chocolate production. A group of 43 students, accompanied by BBA faculty members Ms. Ann Varghese and Ms. Maina D'Souza, participated in the visit.

The journey began at 9:00 AM with the students departing from the college campus. After a two-hour bus ride, they arrived at the CAMPCO Factory at 11:00 AM, where they were warmly welcomed by the factory staff. The visit commenced with an introductory video that provided an overview of CAMPCO’s history, mission, and operations. This set the stage for a comprehensive tour of the factory, where students observed the intricate processes involved in chocolate manufacturing.

During the tour, students were guided through various sections of the factory, witnessing firsthand the different stages of production—from raw material handling to the final packaging of the products. They gained valuable insights into the quality control measures and safety protocols essential in maintaining the high standards of chocolate production.

Throughout the visit, students actively engaged with the factory personnel, asking questions and seeking clarification on various aspects of the manufacturing process. This interactive learning experience not only enhanced their understanding of industrial operations but also provided a practical application of the theoretical concepts they had studied in the classroom.

After an informative and enriching tour, the students departed from the CAMPCO Factory at 2:00 PM and returned to the college campus. The visit concluded positively, with students expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to gain real-world exposure to industrial operations.

In conclusion, the industrial visit to CAMPCO Factory was a valuable learning experience for the BBA students. It offered them an in-depth understanding of chocolate manufacturing and reinforced their theoretical knowledge through practical application. The Management Association looks forward to organizing more such educational initiatives to further enhance the academic journey of its students.
