School of Education - St Aloysius (Deemed To Be University)

Welcome to the School of Education

St Aloysius Institute of Education, a B.Ed. college established under the Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society (MJES), has emerged as a premier institution for teacher education in Mangaluru. Since its inception in 2006, the college has been affiliated with Mangalore University and recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Over the past 17 years, it has been instrumental in shaping competent and compassionate educators under the name St Aloysius Institute of Education.

With a dynamic shift in its academic journey, the institution has now become an integral part of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University)—granted deemed university status by the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education in January 2024. It is now proudly known as the School of Education, duly recognized by the NCTE.

Guided by a committed and dedicated faculty, the School of Education has seen its graduates evolve into successful school teachers, administrators, researchers, college faculty, and heads of both government and private educational institutions. The institute continues to uphold the rich Jesuit tradition of holistic education, placing equal emphasis on academic excellence, leadership development, value-based learning, and community engagement.

At St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), we are committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals by fostering regular participation in co-curricular activities, experiential learning, and leadership programmes.

A warm welcome you to the School of Education—where educators are shaped to lead, inspire, and make a lasting difference.

Message from the Dean

Warm greetings from the School of Education at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University). As we embark on this transformative journey, I am reminded of the profound responsibility we bear in shaping the educators of tomorrow.

Our School stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to holistic education. We strive to nurture educators who are not only proficient in pedagogy but also deeply attuned to the societal, environmental, and ethical dimensions of their vocation. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to integrate foundational courses on the Indian Constitution, Human Rights, Gender Equity, Environmental Science, and Value Education, ensuring that our graduates are well-equipped to navigate and address the complexities of contemporary society.

In alignment with the Jesuit ideal of forming "men and women for and with others," we emphasize the development of critical thinking, empathy, and a sense of social justice. Our educators are encouraged to go beyond conventional teaching methodologies, embracing innovation and interdisciplinary approaches to foster inclusive and dynamic learning environments.

As we continue to evolve, our focus remains steadfast on cultivating a community of reflective practitioners who are dedicated to lifelong learning and committed to making meaningful contributions to the field of education.

I invite each of you to join us in this endeavor, as we work collaboratively to inspire, innovate, and impact the world through education.
