Ms. Shameena K.A. is an accomplished academician, researcher, and mentor with over 16 years of experience in the field of biochemistry. She currently holds the position of Programme Coordinator at St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, while also serving as the Head of the Department of Biochemistry at St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. As an Assistant Professor (Stage II), she has been instrumental in nurturing young scientific minds and fostering a strong academic foundation.
She earned her M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry from Mangalore University and is presently pursuing a Ph.D. in Nanochemistry at St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University). Her research expertise spans across biochemistry, microbiology, probiotics and gut immunity, and the environmental impact of industrial waste on river ecosystems. She has spearheaded multiple research initiatives, including a project on probiotics and gut immunity, funded by the Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA), and a UGC-supported study on the effects of industrial effluents on water bodies.
In addition to her academic and research pursuits, she has taken on pivotal leadership roles, serving as an organising secretary, convenor, class guide, and mentor, fostering an engaging and student-centered learning environment. She has also contributed to academic governance as a Malpractice Committee Member, upholding ethical standards in education. Her scholarly contributions include book chapters and research publications, further enriching the field of biochemistry.
With a commitment to innovation, research, and academic excellence, Ms. Shameena K.A. continues to inspire and guide the next generation of biochemists, instilling in them a passion for discovery and scientific inquiry.
