About

Dr. Florin Shelomith Soans, MA, M.Phil, K-SET, PhD in Economics, is an accomplished academic with over 15 years of experience in higher education teaching. Currently serving as Assistant Professor- Stage III, Chair of Alumni Affairs, and Research Supervisor,  Committed to fostering academic excellence and research-oriented learning holds a PhD in Economics from Mangalore University for her dissertation titled “Decentralization and Economic Development: A Study in Karnataka State” under the able guidance of Prof Shripathi Kalluraya K P, Professor, Finance Officer, Mangalore University. With a strong academic foundation, including an M.Phil in Developmental Studies and obtaining a distinction with a cash prize for MA in Economics, she brings both scholarly insight and practical understanding to her field. A registered K-SET holder in 2013, Dr. Soans has contributed to curriculum development, institutional development, and alumni engagement. Research interests span decentralization, local governance, and developmental economics with agriculture, women's studies, and urban and rural parameters. She is listed on Vidwan (ID: 281530) and ORCID (0000-0003-0950-4478), reflecting active participation in academic and professional networks. Aims to continue her academic journey through innovative teaching, impactful research, and meaningful institutional collaboration. 

Dr. Soans has made significant scholarly contributions through publications in Scopus-indexed and UGC CARE-listed journals, which is numered to 59, reflecting her dedication to high-quality and peer-reviewed academic output. Published 3 books with ISBN and has actively participated and presented more than 108 research papers in  National and International conferences, presenting research papers on topics related to decentralization, women empowerment, and economic governance, agriculture and topics of research interest in economics, humanities and social science. Her academic involvement extends to consultancy services in economics, particularly in areas concerning grassroots governance and local economic planning. She has completed a UGC-sponsored Minor Research Project of Rs 120000 focused on local economic development initiatives. To further enhance her academic expertise and pedagogical skills, Dr. Soans has completed multiple Refresher Courses and Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), a teacher training programme aligning her teaching and research with contemporary developments in economics and higher education.
