Chemistry plays a pivotal role in our daily lives, influencing virtually every aspect of the world around us. At its core, chemistry is the study of matter and its properties, as well as the interactions and transformations it undergoes. This scientific discipline is essential for understanding the composition and behaviour of substances, enabling advancements in fields such as medicine, agriculture, and technology. Chemistry is the driving force behind pharmaceutical breakthroughs, allowing the development of life-saving drugs and treatments. It is also crucial in agriculture, contributing to the creation of fertilizers and pesticides that enhance crop yields and protect against pests. Moreover, chemistry is fundamental in designing and improving materials used in various industries, from manufacturing to electronics. In essence, the importance of chemistry lies in its ability to unravel the mysteries of the physical world and provide the knowledge necessary for innovation, sustainability, and the betterment of society as a whole.
DEPARTMENT OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES AND RESEARCH IN CHEMISTRY
The Department of Chemistry was established in the year in 2007 offering analytical chemistry as a specialized subject. It started another Post-Graduate program, General chemistry in the academic year 2012.
The department offers research program leading to Ph.D. in Chemistry (which includes organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical and analytical chemistry). All of the department's master's degree holders are now wellpositioned in reputable business or academic institutions.Six certificate programs are also available through the department, fa-cilitating further education that advances students' overall growth.
