Department of Zoology

The Department of Zoology, St. Aloysius College has designed the curriculum in Zoology for under graduate students as per the direction and guidelines of UGC and on par with the Aloysian ideals. The department offers undergraduate programme in B.Sc.

It also provides opportunities to develop skills by participating in seminars, group discussions, setting up of experiments and preparation of models, student outreach programme, hosting and organizing exhibitions, holding intercollegiate competitions, etc.

The department has spacious laboratory, museum, instrumentation room and indoor vermitechnology unit. It has a MOU-in the field of Vermitechnology- with Govindadasa College, Surathkal. The department also offers Diploma in Vermitechnology- Open to all streams of students.

Former HOD of the department Dr Harish Joshy had discovered a new species of frog and named after St Aloysius College – “Euphlyctes Aloysii”.
