The department of Journalism was established in 1997. The syllabus has been structured to suit and challenge the academic and creative ability of students.

It is outlined in a way that students learn film making, newspaper making, radio programs, television bulletins which help them learn allied subjects like writing for media, media management, communication etc. in a better way.

The department, other than classroom teaching offers student projects as well as collaboration with industry and institutions. It has maintained a working lab as well as departmental library for the students.

The department conducts national level documentary and short film competition along with seminar. It also conducts one skill development workshop on media related activities such as RJ, Photography etc. Internship programs are helping final year students to get employed in different media organizations.

As an annual feature students are taken to Metros, film cities etc and given exposure to the area of journalism through the commercial & corporate sector visits. Along with teaching the students are offered practical training field 

  • First year students are required to publish a weekly newsletter Al-Week.
  • Second year students have their annual news letter ‘Ripples’ second year students will produce video features on different issues.
  • The final year students have biannual journal ‘Dhwani’. Final year students will produce weekly news Bulletin ‘communique’.
  • They also give voice for Radio Sarang.
