Department of Hindi

The Hindi Department was established in 1945 and Hindi as a second language of study. The Department of Hindi at St. Aloysius College is the largest Second Language Department catering to 60% of the total strength.

The main aim of this department is to prepare the students for global needs and IT needs of the present day, Hindi being one of the largest spoken languages of the world.This Department conducts many workshops and seminars.

A newsletter called “Prerana” is published every year to provide a forum for the budding writers of the college. An inter-collegiate festival is organised which provides for a healthy competition among students of various colleges as well as to foster leadership quality among students. The Department has also formed an association called HINDI SANGH.Many teachers like Prof. Padakannaya, Prof. Nambiyar, Prof. Gopal Rao, Prof. Yashwanth Rao and Mrs. Pushpavathi Nadiger have taught the language for many years.

Modern and Medieval poetry have been retained to educate our students on cultural, social and moral values of India. Different forms of prose are included to increase language power, writing skills and comprehension. Grammar is needed for language enhancement.

Hindi language is offered for the first year students of BCA and BBA and first and second year students of B.A, B.Com, B.Sc and BSW.

Preamble:
The modern age is the era of communication revolution and information technology. The relevance and utility of translation in this context is unambiguous today. In the field of knowledge and technology, a continuous advancement and progress is being achieved, the entire world knows its importance. The concept of ‘globalization’ and concept of 'Vishwa Gram' is being considered as communication and 'translation'. 'Translation' proves useful to present the expression of ‘world-brotherhood’ and mutual sensibilities.
