St Aloysius College holds International Hindi Webinar

In India, Hindi must be a working language - John Abraham

In the view of World Hindi Day Celebration,  One day International Hindi Webinar was held on 08 January 2022 at St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. Dr. Mukunda Prabhu, Head of the Department of Hindi gave his introductory speech on the theme of the webinar – ‘Hindi Language and Literature in the Non-Hindi Province – In a Global Perspective'. Speaking on the occasion, John Abraham, Senior Manager (Rajbhasha) of Union Bank of India and Member of the Official Language Implementation Committee, Mangalore, said that there are many languages ​​in India. We need to work with them to make Hindi as a language of communication. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. Praveen Martis S. J presided over the function and he shared his experiences on the importance of Hindi.

During the technical session, subject expert Dr. Sunitha Manjanbail, Professor of Hindi at Karnataka Central University, Kalaburgi, Karnataka urged on the importance of working on , positive exchange in Language and Literature. Another subject Expert Dr Alka Dhanpath Senior Professor, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Indian Studies, Mauritius spoke on the increasing.demand for Hindi at global level. Dr. Gangadhar Wanode, Regional Director, Central institute of Hindi, Hyderabad Centre presided over the technical session. In his presidential remarks said, "Foreign students visits Central Institute of Hindi situated at different states to study Indian language, culture, dance, astrology etc."

Mr. Mahabubali Ali Nadaf welcomed and thanked the guests. Dr. Mamatha NR introduced the guests and hosted the programme. Nearly 350 participants from various states of India like Karnataka, UP, MP West Bengal, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra, Odissa, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and foreign participants namely from Armenia, Mauritius, Afghanisthan participated in the webinar through Zoom,Youtube platform and made the programme significant one.
