Skill-based Job oriented Innovative Degree Programme
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a scheme on skills development based higher education as part of college/university education, leading to setting up of Bachelor of Vocation Courses (B.Voc.) to serve multiple needs. Bachelor of Vocation will have multiple exits such as Diploma and Advanced Diploma under the NSQF (National Skills Qualifications Framework).
The Bachelor of Vocation model, by and large, will be accessible to a large number of individuals of the community, offering low cost and high quality education, that encompasses both vocational skills development as well as traditional coursework, thereby providing opportunities to learners to move directly to the employment sector or move into higher education sector. It offers a flexible and open education system which caters to community-based life-long learning needs.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission:
- The eligibility conditions for admission to the program will be 10+2 or equivalent.
- There is no age constraint for admission to Bachelor of Vocation
- The student can take exit from this course at any point of time and can get re-entry in this programme. Such students will get priority in admission than to a fresher student. (multi entry multi exit scheme)
- Preference should be given to the learners living in the local community. Reservation to SC, ST, OBC and PwD categories will be available as per National / State policy.
- Admissions may be done on a rolling basis depending on the duration of the programmes to facilitate a steady stream of learners joining the college and moving out as trained work force into the job market, round the year and not just once in a year.
- Candidates are selected on the basis of Merit.

B.Voc in Retail Management
Retail Industry, one of the fastest growing and vibrant industries in the world, has contributed to the economic growth of many countries. Retailing is a vital part of the business industry that involves selling products and services to consumers for their individual or family use. Retailing can also be defined as the timely delivery of goods demanded by consumers at an affordable and competitive price. It is a vertical and people-oriented business industry. Retail business in India boomed in the 80s and within a short span of time, Indian retail sector has been rated as the fifth most attractive, emerging retail market in the world. Indian retail sector which accounts for over 10 percent of the country's GDP (gross domestic product) and around eight percent of employment, is expected to grow at a compound rate of 30 per cent over the next five years.
Retailing process involves a direct interface with the customer and the coordination of business activities from the design stage of a product to its delivery and post-delivery service. Generally, retail business can be classified into several types depending on their size, shape, product lines, amount of service they offer and prices they charge etc. Some among them are specialty stores, supermarkets, malls, factory outlets, franchises, chain stores, discount stores, lifestyle & personal products, furnishing household appliances & groceries stores etc.
With the tremendous growth of economy, retail management has emerged as one of the fastest growing careers in India. The enormous expansion in the retail sector during the past few years has thrown up a huge demand for skilled professionals in the field. It is an industry looking for people at all levels, from the school pass outs with basic skills, to the well qualified supply chain and retail management professionals. One can take up a job depending on one's interest and aptitude as retail industry is an array of activities starting from marketing to branding. This makes retail profession one of the most demanding careers of the era.
The working time and atmosphere depends upon the company one works for. One could start his career as a management trainee, and with hard work and right attitude, could reach the manager posts of different departments. Job prospects in Retail Sector are:
Customer Sales Associate: It is the entry-level post of retail business. But as every retail shop is completely dependent upon the sales they get, this is one of the important posts in this profession. To be a good sales person, one should have good knowledge about the products, the shop, the customers etc.
Department Manager / Floor Manager/ Category Manager - These are some of the posts one could handle in the store.
Store Manager: Store managers, sometimes called General Manager or Store Director, are responsible for managing an individual store and its day-to-day functioning. The store manager is in charge of the employees of the store and he himself may report to a District or Area manager or the store's owner.
Retail Operation Manager: It is the duty of a retail manager to plan and coordinate the operations of the outlet. This involves the layout of merchandise, monitoring the retail orders and stock, analyzing the supply etc.
Retail Buyers and Merchandisers: They are the persons who select and buy the goods for the retail shop. They should understand the needs of the customer, should be aware of the trends in the market, and should possess great enthusiasm and energy.
Visual Merchandisers: These people give the brand a face, so they hold one of the very important positions in the industry. Being a part of concept and design one could also be a technical designer, product developer and store planner.

B.Voc. in Food Processing & Engineering
Food processing is a branch of food science and has methods, procedures and techniques which are used to transform raw ingredients into food for the consumption. Processing of food includes preservation of food, enhances flavour and reduces the toxins in food.
In India, Food Processing Industry has been gaining momentum in recent times as the consumers’ food industry. As per reports, there are about 300 million upper and middle class consumers of processed and packaged food in the country, and another 200 million are likely to be added. 500 food parks are planned all over the country. This will further boost the growth and development of food processing industries and will generate huge employment opportunities for those who have an aptitude to this work. Food is processed, preserved, packaged and stored according to the specifications by the industry and the government. Food processing industry is coming of age and it is ranked fifth among industries of India.
The Food Corporation of India (FSI), which handles the purchase, storage, transport and distribution of food grains and other food items, provides employment to a large number of people. Private enterprises market bread, fruit juices, edible oils and soft drink concentrates.

Food technologists, technicians, biotechnologists and engineers are required in this industry for manufacturing or production, preservation and packaging, processing and canning of various food products. All this needs preparation of raw materials for processing which involves selection, or cleaning of the raw material, followed by the actual processing, chopping, blanching, crushing, mixing or even cooking of the food item, adding preservatives and the final packaging hygiene and quality of products.

B.Voc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry
By considering the latest practices in pharmaceutical industry, the course is designed to meet the theoretical aspects required for Vocational Education. The syllabus is designed in consultation with subject experts from industry and colleges operating in Pharmaceuticals domain. The syllabus also offers electives to choose by considering different pharmaceutical products. The impetus for this B.Voc. program comes from an objective of 80% practical from on-the-job-training and 20% of relevant theory which can be connected fully with the on the job training. This connect makes education meaningful leading to related employment scope. Hence this is an industry institute partnership initiative aimed at bridging the gap between Education and Employment thus SKILLING INDIA which is the need of the hour envisioned by all the policy makers, leaders, and governing authorities.
- To make student learn the basic calculations, a pharmaceutical chemistry professional is expected to do in his/her professional life.

If a candidate successfully completes first year of study he would be awarded a diploma and he will be capable enough to serve as a laboratory assistant in any industry or academic institution. A candidate completing two successful years in Bachelor of Vocation program will be awarded with advanced diploma. An advanced diploma qualified student in Pharmaceutical Chemistry will be able to work in ADL, QC and Production department of any pharmaceutical industries. The candidate completing all three years of the course successfully will be awarded the Bachelor of Vocation in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and can be absorbed in any division of Pharmaceutical Industries.

St. Aloysius College was awarded this status of Prestigious Kaushal Kendra by UGC in 2016. UGC has approved to run "Animation & Multimedia" Course in B.Voc from the academic year 2018-19. Only limited seats are available.
