SOCIALLY USEFUL PRODUCTIVE WORK (SUPW)
Socially Useful Productive work (SUPW) may be described as meaningful, purposive and an educational activity used in a variety of formal and non-formal teaching situations. With this objective to be achieved, the activity was organized by dividing the students into different groups and providing exposure to the places which provide a learning to know the procedure involved in book binding, pickle making, bakery items and visit to the nursery.
The second S.U.P.W activity was conducted where the students were categorized into different groups for different activities like Preparation of Fruit Jam, Soap, Phenol, and Preparation of papad, bouquet and Embroidery. Resource persons were called to teach the various skills. It was a very good learning experience as our students gained a good mastery in the different activities.
CITIZENSHIP CAMPS
 
The citizenship training programme aims at fostering the qualities of good citizenship, secular orientation and protection of a composite culture. In order to foster activities which enable growth of these qualities in its students, the college organized the Citizenship Training Camp under the able leadership of Mrs Sandhya, the Camp Coordinator. The camp was held at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Beeri and was inaugurated byDr Shashikala, Professor, St Ann’s College of Education and the Chief Guest of the occasion.
 
The four day programme included lectures on various subjects from distinguished orators & thinkers on topics that stimulated thinking among the students. Sessions followed objectives of the camp, community singing, voice modulation, fire and safety rules, first aid and many more. We were ably assisted by Mr.Gopalkrishna Bhat, Leader Trainer of the Camp, Graduate Assistant, St. Aloysius High School, Mangalore.
 

Regular Evaluation brought in a real flavor into the day’s activity.Prof Santhosh Rebello, Dean, MCA, MSc, Dept of management and Informatics, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) was the chief guest and delivered the valedictory speech on the final day.
This programme instilled among the students the experience of living in groups, working in teams and made them realize the importance of team work.

Soft Skills training for teacher trainees

The Junior Chamber International India (JCI), a Worldwide Federation of young Leaders and Entrepreneurs organized a Value based Skills Training for the teacher trainees. The Chief Guest was Rev Fr Leo Periera SJ, Director of the College and the Guest of Honour Jc. HGF Narayan N Ballya.
Alumni Association Picnic on Kotekar Beach



The members of the Alumnae Association organized a picnic to the beach, Beeri, Kotekar. They were accompanied by rev Fr Leo Periera SJ, Director, Principal, Staff and the ex students.
World Environment Day



World Environment Day is a day that stimulates awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and public action. To mark this understanding, the college celebrated the day by organizing a programme related to changing attitudes towards environmental issues under the guidance of Mrs Delna Lobo, Vice Principal.
Rev Fr Leo Pereira SJ was the chief guest on this occasion and gave his message about raising awareness, encouraging people to voice their thoughts and do their utmost to improve the environment.


CLUB INAUGURAL
Clubs can play a vital role in a child’s development and a great learning environment for young people as it gives them freedom to learn more about what interests them in a less formal setting. With the prime motive of learning how to organize clubs in schools and also plan activities associated with it, the College Inaugurated the three clubs science, literary and Kannada sangha. Dr. Vaman Nandavar, Project Officer, Heritage Village, Pilikula was the Chief Guest and spoke on the importance of the various clubs and the ways that would help the young broaden their social skills.
MICROTEACHING
Microteaching and macro teaching, a training technique whereby the teachers find out what has worked, which aspects have fallen short, and what needs to be done to enhance their teaching technique and the various skills were taught in their respective method classes.
WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY
A sense of community is very important for the students to know about the division of work, feeling of association, togetherness, and cooperation -all of these which help in establishing a healthy atmosphere filled with unity, harmony and friendship. So to foster this feeling, the working with the community (WWC) is of prime importance.
The first WWC activity included organizing games for the different govt primary schools in the community. The schools chosen were Bolar Govt School, Kapikad, Mannagudda, Mallikatte and Capitanio primary schools.
The second WWC activity took its turn where the students were categorized into various groups to visit the Old Age Homes at Bajjodi, Mother Theresas Home, St Anns Ashram and Prashanth Nivas. This helped the students to know about the feelings of those people who have been abandoned by their families and to familiarize them with the situations they may face in life.
EDUCATIONAL TOUR
It was an exciting time for the student teachers as the college organized an Educational Tour for three days to Bijapur and Bagalkot accompanied by Rev. Fr Leo Pereira, Director, Mrs Delna Lobo, Vice Principal and the Faculty Members.
Some of the places visited were Badami, Patadakallu, Aihole, Kudalasangama, Almathi Dam etc. This brought about the historical importance, educative value and enlightened the students about India’s rich cultural heritage.
CELEBRATION OF WOMEN'S DAY
To highlight women’s capabilities and realize the empowerment of women, a short programme with regard to women’s day was celebrated.
Dr Jacintha D’Souza, Principal, Roshni Nilaya was the chief guest and gave her message on the qualities of women and the problems faced in the modern scenario.
SPORTS DAY
The annual sports meet of the College was inaugurated by Rev Fr Stany Miranda SJ, Retired Officer and Rev Fr Joseph Rodrigues SJ, Rector, St Aloysian Institutions being the guest of honor. Speaking after declaring the sports meet open, Rev Fr Stany Miranda said that the sports and games are part of life and participation in the same makes the students active, which in turn, builds a capacity in them to face the challenges in all walks of life.

Course Inaugural
 
St Aloysius Institute of Education inaugurated its B.Ed course. Rev. Fr Walter D’Mello, Vicar of Milagres was the chief guest. Rev Fr Leo Pereira SJ, director presided over the function. Rev Fr Walter D’ Mello in his address to the students congratulated them for choosing to be teachers as it is one of the noblest professions. He exhorted the students to be responsible and committed teachers.

GRADUATION DAY
 
The Graduation Day is a long awaited day where the graduating students begin their journey as teachers. Seventy Two student teachers were conferred the B.Ed degree on this day. Rev Sr Doreen D’Souza UFS, Superior General, Fransciscan Ursuline Society was the Chief Guest and Rev Fr Joseph Rodrigues SJ, Rector, St Aloysian Institutions presided over.
The top scorers in each subject were honoured by the Guests. The Chief Guest and the President delivered their message to the student teachers to achieve higher levels of motivation, energy and self confidence as future teachers.
